Social Media Marketing Summit

Julie Cocks and I went on a road trip today to the T-Dot to learn some more about social media marketing. The morning was pretty much the basics that we already knew (particularly for Julie the Marketing Major!) but the afternoon session was quite informative. I'm excited about sharing this with our sales reps.
The host and key speaker was George O'Neill (pictured). George is a Realtor and was an engineer and marketing consultant in his past lives. I did a bit of research on him before the summit and in my opinion he's a great video blogger. You can check out his blog at  www.torontorealestatemusing.com.
Amongst a number of speakers we also heard from Realtor and master blogger Richard Silver www.torontoism.com.
We came from the summit with lists of vendors, websites, and books for reference, and an invitation to join a Real Estate Technology group. I would recommend this summit to any Realtors who could use an introduction to social media marketing.
I think that the most significant thing I left with was the concept and importance of social media marketing. As Realtors we need to incorporate this into our overall marketing plans. We have to be a strong presence on the internet and should be considering mobile. This is where our customers are. We need to be constantly posting content that is current and relevant to keep customers coming back to our sites and to ensure search engine optimization. Great social media stats to follow in another blog post. Kate
